 INTEGRATED CARE CENTER
FACT SHEET

The Clinics are internationally known for its profound commitment to its clients and for its many significant health care innovations. The Integrated Care Center marks another innovative milestone in The Clinics’ 40-year history of commitment to those people who are most in need.

The Clinics’ unique Integrated Care Center makes our “any door is the right door” philosophy a reality in a single facility. Here the public can receive primary medical care, substance abuse treatment, mental health counseling and intensive case management all under one roof within a unified service delivery model.  Our new Integrated Care Center will provide the most comprehensive health care services available at a single health center anywhere in San Francisco.

The Integrated Care Center will serve as a national and international model for integrating primary care, mental health counseling, substance abuse treatment, and case management not only in a comprehensive manner but also in a single location. Our Integrated Care Center demonstrates The Clinics’ commitment to providing a safety net for those with the least access to health care.

In addition to integrated outpatient treatment services, the Integrated Care Center will also house a 7x24 drop-in center for the homeless as well as San Francisco’s only women’s detox center. Individuals receiving care in these centers will have full access to The Clinics’ Integrated Care Center services.

This modern new facility is the largest of its kind in San Francisco with 16,000 square feet devoted to treatment services.

This women’s recovery center is lovingly dedicated to the memory and legacy of Marjorie Colvin, MFT, who worked for the Haight Ashbury Free Clinics’ Substance Abuse Treatment Program from 1977 to 2006.  Her dedication and skill as a therapist helped countless numbers of individuals, couples and families struggling with drug addiction and mental health disorders. Irascible, irreverent, and with a passionate commitment to social justice, she epitomized the Haight Ashbury Free Clinics’ philosophy that “Health Care is a Right, Not a Privilege”.

 BUSTER’S PLACE

Homeless Drop-In Center

24 Hours a Day – 7 Days a Week – 365 Days a Year

Richard "Buster" Johnson volunteered for Rock Medicine for more than two decades as a supply person.  His forward thinking set the stage for the way that Rock Medicine still handles supply today.  He also served as Haight Ashbury Free Clinics’ facilities person for 12 years helping to make each facility a better place for our clients and staff. His open and friendly personality made all feel at home and he truly represented the heart of the organization.  His willingness to help the homeless of The Haight and his services to the Haight Ashbury Free Clinics are honored by naming the drop-in center “Buster’s Place” in his memory.
